Sometimes the light, the conditions and the birds all come to provide a lovely opportunity for photography. Staying in the hide for a couple of hours is almost like meditation for me. So quiet, only the sound of bird song to focus on. It really quietens the mind. Before long a deep sense of calm has washed over me, followed by a modest contented happiness.
I'm really into birds, but not so much that I want to stress myself about seeing the most exotic or rare species - if I can I might go and see it, but the main driver for me is the calm and the beauty of nature. Well, and trying to get a good shot.
Sitting in my little garden hide, overlooking the small area of woodland, when the sun comes out. It has that lovely softened morning glow, and it lights the backdrop just as I'd hoped. Then the birds arrive and the scene is set!
